@kanej

Thought I’d jump in, male 31, gym 5 days a week for 8 years, same chest flutters, shortness of breath, pain in the lower rib area, back, chest etc coming up to 6months, no relief, some days worse then Others

Been to the ER twice, admitted for 36hours on ECG monitor, no issue , cardiologist echo, stress echo, no problems , spiro test, clear , X-ray , clear

I’ve missed about 4 of the last 7 months from the gym, that was my life, my exit , now I can’t go there, it’s affecting me mentally , recently started on 40mg of a PPI , surely acid reflux can’t be causing all these problems

Second opinion absolutely

Definitely 2nd opinion and ask for a CT Angiogram. That will show any plaque build up in your arteries that may be causing the chest pains. You can pass a stress test easily and still have blockage. That will give you peace of mind. I can’t believe cardiologist wait so long to do that test. It’s better than a stress test and isn’t that expensive. Insurance may or may not cover and it only takes 15 minutes. You may have no plaque build up but it will show you.

Acid reflux *can* cause acid to get into your lungs and cause inflammation and sob. Now, I've also had flutters, but they've been due to inflammatory issues. Did they rule out gall bladder, pancreas, and liver issues yet?

YES acud reflux, gastritis and esophagitis CAN cause all your symptoms as i have had them for 40 years. Gastric issues are a huge MIMC of cardiac issues. all of the symptoms your having can most definately all be gastric. try the PPI's and see if they go away. google a list of acidic foods and try and stay away form ALL of them for a couple weeks and see how you feel. Nexium was always the best PPI for me. The flutters can be cause simply form stress, the shortness of breath si when the acid gets into your lung on the way up . VERY common. pain on the lower rib and bck very common for gastric issues, chest pain can come from an irritated esophagus for the reflux feels juts like a heart attack and cna also be esophageal spasms which feels juts like a hart attacks as i have had 5 heart attacks and also have esophageal spasms. the worse days are when you eat acidic and or BAD food which make the reflux worse. been doing this for 40 years. trust me i have had it all.

@kanej I agree with the others, a second opinion is definitely called for. It can't hurt and it may help a lot. I went a long time without a diagnosis and I learned my lesson from that.
I can really sympathize with not being able to go to the gym affecting you. I have a very active son in his 30s and working out is essential for him, not only because he likes to be fit, but he needs that to work off stress and excess energy. I go to my health club about six days a week and even I get depressed when I can't go for a while!
