I was listed at Mass General for 2 yrs and retested at Mayo Phoenix. They accepted me and my time from MGH. I waited another year and a half and just received my new kidney Dec 11th 2017! Mayo is absolutely the best. We plan on moving to Phoenix anyway but Mayo is a large part of that decision. My Blue Cross Massachusetts insurance has been no issue. The person who got the other kidney to mine is from LA and they had been waiting at UCLA for 4 years. They finally came here and within 2 months got transplant. Lots of California and Nevada people come here. Good luck!

Welcome to Connect, @kidneyforcricket. And thank you for the wonderful testimony to the transplant team at Mayo Clinic.

I invite you to explore some of the other discussion in the Transplants group and meet some of the other members. Maybe start by introducing yourself to the gang here:
- This and That and Talk - My Transplant https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/this-and-that-and-talk-my-transpant/

I bet you have some tips and guidance for fellow members in these discussions:
- Kidney transplant https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/kidney-transplant-1/
- How many of you decided to move permanently to be near Mayo? https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/how-many-of-you-decided-to-move-permanently-to-be-near-mayo/

Great to have you here!

@kidneyforcricket, Welcome to Connect, and Happy first month transplant anniversary! Thank you for sharing this happy event with us. I can feel your relief and your joy over your new life.

I, also, would like to invite you to visit some of the other transplant discussions. I know that there are many people who are in the transplant process who can benefit from your positive experience.

Am I correct that you are going to move to Phoenix? If so, have you been discharged from outpatient post transplant care? And how are you managing at a distance?
