@sing26, venting is allowed. I can see you've been very frustrated with the care you've received, especially during your most recent visit to the emergency department where you were taken by ambulance.

Your question is "how do you get doctors to listen and hear you? How do you get them to take you seriously?"

You shared that you've lived with a heart defect that went undetected for 50 years. And that it is now changing into something new. Can you explain a bit more?

The better we understand your situation, perhaps the easier it would be for fellow patients here on the forum to help with ways to be better understood by your doctor to get the care you deserve. Will you share a bit more like:
What heart problem have you been diagnosed with?
What new symptoms or issues are you having?

@colleenyoung first let me clarify. The heart defect I had for 50ys. Was a AVNRT , it was fixed with an ablation. That was in 2010. But in 2009 I had a nervous breakdown, causing neurological damage. This was confirmed by the surgeon in 2010. He said it couldn't be repaired. So since 09 I have arrhythmias. They cause low BP. This last er trip was not the one by ambulance, they would have taken me to a hospital that has the cardo Dr that said I od on caffeine. So I had a friend take me to a different one. My BP was very high , 211/98, I had pressure and mild heart pain. I didn't think heartattack, but a definite serious problem. Normally I figure out and handle myself, can't depend on dr. I tried everything I knew and still BP was up and climbing. So now I'm back to on my own. Thanks for all the support ( I needed it) and advice. You can't make dr listen. I had a pcp years ago, she was experiencing all the same symptoms as I was. Her Dr accused her of overreacting and self diagnosing. They just don't care.
