The problem began a few decades ago, when Doctors in private practice had to insure against malpractice. Lawyers lined up to sue; and premiums became unaffordable. Doctors werre attracted to working in hospital settings and in groups, which could insure them, However, the Doctors became unwitting captives of clinical priorities and processes, which were not prioritizing the welfare of the patient. Couple that with Medicare only reimbursing 25% of the cost of most procedures, and you have where we are today. Hospitals want the patient out in one day; and most Medicare Advantage contracts have raised the co-insurance $1,000/year for the past 5 years, making it basically unaffordable; along with increasing numbers of refusals for operations, (ask me how I know), so reputable doctors now need to spend time fighting refusals from the insurers to do important work to relieve suffering and restore decent health.
Medicare for all? Who do the ****crats think they are kidding? It's bad for the citizen and completely a budget-buster.
