Yes, they believe what others say, even if you show them different. I was taken by ambulance, started crashing right before we got to the hospital. Er Dr, said serious, sent me to a so called cardiologist. He was the worst. Didn't even see me till next morning, never even stepped in my room, ran a couple of tests, ( not the ones I needed) and sent me home, said I OD on caffeine. It took 2yr to find a dr to listen and run the right tests. Then the hospital fired her because she spent to much time with her patients. She did manage to send me to a good cardiac surgeon. He did my ablation. Good dr that listen are rare.and when I find one they never last. It's exhausting and frustrating to find a good one. Their oath means nothing only $$$

@sing26 I found a good electrophysiologist by signing on with and waiting to be seen by a renowned guy at a major teaching hospital in a large city. He brings so much money (rainmaker) into the hospital that they give him everything he needs to run a high quality operation. He has the money to hire the staff required to supply excellent care and follow-through, filled with only the most accomplished fellows and other intelligent staff committed to excellence. Even communication is prompt and thorough.
I hope seeking help from a similarly highly reputed electrophysiologist may work for you too.

@sing26, venting is allowed. I can see you've been very frustrated with the care you've received, especially during your most recent visit to the emergency department where you were taken by ambulance.

Your question is "how do you get doctors to listen and hear you? How do you get them to take you seriously?"

You shared that you've lived with a heart defect that went undetected for 50 years. And that it is now changing into something new. Can you explain a bit more?

The better we understand your situation, perhaps the easier it would be for fellow patients here on the forum to help with ways to be better understood by your doctor to get the care you deserve. Will you share a bit more like:
What heart problem have you been diagnosed with?
What new symptoms or issues are you having?
