Fat Necrosis & blood at surgery site question

Posted by karenzm @karenzm, 12 hours ago

Hello,
I had a lumpectomy in 2023 and have had pain associated with fat necrosis and blood at the surgery site since. A few months back a part of the filled sack started to come out of the surgery line and on Thur it broke open and was bleeding, within 24 hrs I was in serious pain and ended up in the ER as I was terrified of an infection. Confirmed with Dr yesterday that Its lymphedema and I'm on the correct antibiotic. just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and have some encouraging words or helpful hits as to how to relieve pain. thanks

I might be on the same path as you, so I’m interested in the responses you get. I did look back on the type cancer/treatment you had to see if mine was similar. I have a lot of fat necrosis and 2 pockets of fluid (seen on MRI) not far from suture line.

Has anyone discussed collagen issues with you? The fat necrosis, healing issues that may have left areas for fluid accumulation, and the intense joint/fascia response from AIs make me think that collagen could be an issue, maybe underlying cause for the type issues you have. Knowing collagen doesn’t form/repair as expected maybe isn’t something that can be fixed - but future treatment could take that into consideration and make adjustments.

This is Google’s Gemini AI, not a medical diagnosis, but raises some questions you might feel are worth asking the doctor. I did not put in any personal info, if anything, Gemini now thinks I have lymphedema, etc.
