D3+K2 Recommendation Please
Could someone please recommend a good D3+K2 supplement without synthetic ingredients?
I have read that plant based is best and those that use lichen and chickpeas.
Has anyone used one from Thorne or Sports Research?
What is the recommended dosage? I have seen high doses like 5,000-10,000 iu of D3 in many of the brands and I would not want to take that much, especially in addition to the amount in my multi- vitamin.
I am 73 and have progressed from osteopenia to osteoporosis in some areas most likely due to taking Anastrazole for the past 2 1/2 years for breast cancer. I stopped taking calcium supplements and I am trying to get it through food instead.

@fsf I asked CLAUDE, an AI about such a relationship. It couldn't find anything in JAMA. This is what it did find:
"Here's what the evidence actually shows, based on FDA, EMA, and Health Canada reviews:
No specific osteosarcoma signal identified for calcitonin salmon. The safety concern for calcitonin salmon nasal spray (Miacalcin, Fortical) is an increased risk of malignancies in general, not osteosarcoma specifically. A meta-analysis of 21 randomized controlled trials found an increased risk of malignancies in calcitonin-salmon treated patients compared to placebo-treated patients, but the cancer types weren't concentrated in bone cancer — different types of malignancies were observed more frequently in patients treated with calcitonin, compared with placebo, with the absolute increased risk of cancer varying between 0.7% and 2.4%. 2 Reactions@tomboggs In addition to what I just wrote in an earlier comment, you may like to know that CLAUDE also says:
"The EU's CHMP concluded that because of the increased risk of cancer associated with long-term use of calcitonin, the benefits no longer outweigh the risks for osteoporosis, and recommended the nasal spray be withdrawn from the European market, while calcitonin injection remained available for short-term use in Paget's disease and acute bone loss from immobilization.
www
An FDA advisory panel voted 12-9 that the risks of the inhalable osteoporosis drug outweigh its benefits, concluding it should no longer be used, after two studies showed a slightly higher rate of cancer among patients taking calcitonin.
Health Canada also concluded the cancer risk outweighs the benefit for the nasal spray, and advised patients to speak to their healthcare provider about switching treatments, while injectable calcitonin remained authorized with a new cancer-risk warning."

2 ReactionsI eat a lot of low fat cottage cheese for the calcium and other benefits. I cannot have it in the AM when I take synthroid, which interferes with calcium absorption. I have just stopped my nordic women's multi-vitamin as I am having allergic reactions to something and that supplement which I recently started, is suspect. It gets complicated for many of us, trying to do the right thing at the right time! I think getting your calcium from food is a good option as the supplements can cause new problems. The one supplement that I always rely on is Vitamin D3/K2.

4 Reactions@fsf my cousin had a spontaneous fracture of her femur, but it was mild. It's supposed to get better in 4 to 6 weeks. It wasn't a total break, but she was recently put on calcitonin salmon. I was never told about it. I'm on a lot of calcium powder and I had a reclast infusion. In April, I'm doing weightlifting at my PT. I exercise 40 minutes in the morning sitting standing and lying and I walk at least two or three hours a day not fast but I walk but I'm very thin so I don't know how much I'm getting out of it I take 15 minutes of tai chi once a week I'm making kidney stones so everything is being watched. I'm on low salt and I drink about 10 to 12 glasses of water a day, which is very hard on me. I recently had a cold and a bout of reflux one night which really really did a number on me, but I got better in about two weeks. I take Kiwi for vitamin C. I take a sublingual vitamin B12 every other day and vitamin E every other day and vitamin D3 every day, but I'm on a lot of omeprazole and Pepcid to keep me from having reflux since I had an esophagectomy And I'm prediabetic so there's just so many things to take into consideration and my IBS doesn't help. I do the Nerva program and I work with a nutritionist Doctor Who talks to me every two weeks for a half an hour and I have a social worker. I talk to once a week I refuse to go on auntie anxiety or anti-depressive medicine because they all have things in them that could make me sick. I had my esophagectomy seven years ago and although I'm cancer free, I have a para conduit hernia and I burp all day. It's just a lot to take. I'm doing the best I can.

2 ReactionsPure Encapsulation makes a Calcium D K supplement.
One thing I can say is make sure the K2 you're taking is MK-4 that's a good one MK-7 keeps you steady, but it doesn't improve it. MK-4 can improve it.

1 ReactionLife Extentions mega K2. It's actually MK four and it comes in 45 mg which is a daily Safe dose. Look at the doses a lot of times they come out with microdoses or mcg. Clinical/High Dose: Clinical trials for osteoporosis use 45 mg (45,000 mcg) daily, divided into three doses of 15 mg throughout the day. This regimen is used in Japan to increase bone mineral density and lower fracture rates.
• Lower/Maintenance Dose: For general daily bone support, lower amounts ranging from 500 mcg to 1,500 mcg (1.5 mg) are sometimes used in studies or wellness routines.

2 Reactions@helmit Thank you for the Life Extension information. There are few MK-4 products in the US with the recommended Japanese dosage of 45 mg. It is also a more reasonably priced product than others. My concern is that I understood you needed to take 45 mg as 3 separate dosages of 15 mg because of MK-4's half-life. It seems that the Life Extension product would be one daily pill of 45 mg. Wonder if that affects its optimal benefit.
