Supplements

Posted by thomasmichael @thomasmichael, Sep 27 11:51am

As my peripheral neuropathy continues it's progression, it's time for me to ask the question, "Is there a supplement or treatment I should use?" For 6 years I have been taking Regen, by Pure Health. Does it work? How would anyone know? Placebo effect? I would like to prolong the time before I go to the cane and ultimately the wheel chair like my father did (I have CMT). So I thought checking in with this wonderful and supportive community would be a good idea. Thank you.

@thomasmichael, That is the question I was trying to answer when I first joined Connect back in 2016. I do take supplements to hopefully slow or stop the progression but the neuropathy is still there and it hasn't gotten any worse so I'm happy so far. I shared my neuropathy journey in another discussion here -https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/310341/.

Here are a few references on supplements that might be helpful:

I am taking prescripion Mentrix. It has been deemed successful for diabetes caused neuropathy but not idiopathic yet (what I have). My symptoms have improved a lot but I also have lost a lot of weight and undertook a vigorous exercise program (I am 76 year old male). I suspect the Mentrix was a good call but I cannot say for sure because I have a lot going on. I am also taking creatine and my muscle tone and bulk has improve

Welcome @linde123, I have carpal tunnel but haven't had any surgery yet but may have to in the future. Here's some information that may explain what is happening:

Has anyone tried Medusae, it's a sub lingual combination item, i.e., has ALA etc.
