I have spine t score -4.3 and chronic kidney disease with gfr of 44. I also have barretts oesaphagus so I cannot take oral medications for osteoporosis. I have not started medication yet and am petrified of them all. Afraid they will further damage my kidneys. Anybody here with ckd and osteoporosis?

mck5, you might want bone markers every three months and frequent calcium and urinary calcium measurements. Otherwise teriparatide is thought to be safe for individuals with egfr greater that 30.
Hypercalcemia can put a greater burden of removal for your kidneys and put you at risk for kidney stones.
You'd want careful attention during use.

I hope the endocrinologist will look for secondary causes of osteoporosis.
best wishes

Hi. I just started on teriparatide 40 days ago. I have stage three a kidney disease, with a GFR falling from 61 last year to 49 last week. The GFR was 53 immediately before I started the TERIPARATIDE, and it fell four points in 40 days. I was told that a four point decrease was not clinically significant And that the injections are not harmful to my kidneys. I have a FRAX score of 18%, so I don’t think I have any choice but to take the injections. I am doing everything that I can to help prevent kidney damage, and I really don’t know what else I could do, but stopping the injections doesn’t appear to be an option that I could take.
