I guess my original question is she said I could stop taking the Eliquis the day I get the loop. Why is that would I still not have the same possibility of having a stroke with or without the loop

@rice Of course, the loop is a monitor of your heartbeats, nothing more. In ideal circumstances, you would receive an IMMEDIATE notification that you are in Afib and to start a blood thinner. We all know and most have experienced less than perfect and prompt communication from our medical professionals, especially on weekends. Your monitor’s data must be shared from office to office before it gets to you. I personally wouldn’t trust that by not continuing to protect with a thinner until the monitor proves that you are in normal sinus rhythm over a reasonable period of time without ANY afib.
Do everything you can to reduce the risk of a life-changing stroke.

@rice This question needs addressing, I agree, but by the person who gave you the suggestion. Personally, the heart's risk of sending a clot downstream rises with each passing hour in AF....if that's what your condition is. Even so, the literature seems to suggest that you can forego a DOAC if you self-convert inside of I think it's 24 hours. That seems dangerously long to me, but I didn't do the research and I can't dispute the findings.
