Thank you for sharing, in such detail, the challenges you are experiencing while navigating through this difficult time for you. I joined this forum today because I have a very dear friend who has been diagnosed with Atypical Parkinson’s disease. It is very important for me that I learn as much as I possibly can about this condition so I can help in any way she or her family needs.

@chillier I went to a MDS NEurologist about 3 days ago and they did the normal test in the office and looked at what other Neurologist sent me to test for and her conclusion was so far its maily old age/maybe Essential tremors but my Petscan hasn't results have not been posted yet.She said she really wanted to see that one.I go back in 2 months to find out what she thinks.Meanwhile she put me onPrimidone to calm the tremors.Time will tell.I have already with 1st Neurologist had a EEG,MRI,Catscan,Datscan,Cognitive test and they all come back as normal for my age. They are stalling on the Petscan for some reason.I know at least i have Essential Tremors but they all can misdiagnose. Its just hard after all i have read. Not faulting either. Now,did they actually tell your friend that she was diagnosed with Atypical Parkinsons or did she or he go to their website and read their notes? Those are just their thoughts till you get all the test done...js Because i did that and was tripping out till my next appointment and my wife jumped their butts about posting that.Thats when i found out its nothing yet. 🙂

I am sorry to hear of your friend's diagnosis of Atypical Parkinson's. I'm sure that she and her family appreciate your interest in learning as much as possible about this disorder.

What sort of symptoms was she having prior to her diagnosis? Have any treatments been prescribed, like medication or physical therapy?
