I wouldn't roll my eyes at anxiety related to medical clinics, white coat hypertension, social situations such as giving a speech, or tapering off a beta blocker.
It's not common, but sometimes beta blockers are used before a clinic appointment or a speech. Some patients with anxiety report doing better on a beta blocker, again probably not common. Situational anxiety and beta blocker use are in fact sometimes related, although probably not in most patients. I am not recommending self medication, to be clear.
