Hip Hip Hooray…It’s Chemo Day! 🎈🎈🎈
Heading off to the Chair in a couple hours for first dose of Taxotere (docetaxel). Low dose of 65mg/m2. Will increase to 75mg/m2 for the remainder if tolerated. I told them to put a port in because I am not an easy stick for an IV but, they said they never port on the first infusion in case it's not tolerated. We'll see how that goes.
Had a CT c/a/p late yesterday. No results yet. Have a bone scan tomorrow. Hope I don't puke on the table. 🤮
Very little sleep last night, no not anxious, back is starting to scream again. I'm guessing the bone scan is going to light up from about L3 down. On the positive side, maybe it'll work out and I can sleep in the Chair. I'll report back later. Have a great day, all!
Oh... and in keeping with treatment tradition from last year's RT...

OK then…Received first infusion of Taxotere(docetaxel). Great nurse, great cookies, OK nap, bad drugs. Not too long a day, only 3 1/2 hours there and back.
Issue with finding a vein for the IV. Had to go get “the Wizard” to get it in and yes, I said it. (“I told you so” 😝) The Wizard said she found at least 3 more spots without even looking hard so no rush with the port. Now we wait for what the next few days bring.
Oh, and CT results are in. Only 2 changes not reported on previous scan…
1) Lungs…2mm pulmonary nodule within superior segment of left lower lobe. (might explain all that yak when I cough)
2) Lymph…Left pelvic lymph node 2.1x1.6 cm.
So…now it appears we have organ involvement to go along with bone. Not sure why all the rave about this Orgovyx/Nubeqa stuff. Isn’t doing squat for me.
My advice to all…DON’T GET CANCER! 😁🤣😁
And…Sometimes, treatment just doesn’t work.

@dailyeffort - Great prayer, Bill. Consider it stolen.
Thanks...Mike
@jeffmarc - Nah, I already buzzed my head. If my nails go wonky, I'll go get a manicure. Maybe have "FORK CANCER" put on them. 10 letters, ten nails.

3 Reactions@surftohealth88 - Hi surf - You wouldn't have to chase me. I could smell that nasty smoothie from across the street, and you wouldn't even see me.
I greatly appreciate your well wishes and I'm glad Mr. surf's doing well.

2 Reactions@peterj116 - I think they should have a wine and cheese bar in each center. Hell, they could charge for it and make a fortune. 😁
@mjp0512 is the lung nodule confirmed to be cancer? 2mm is small, probably too small to biopsy. I also think they are commonly found as an incidental item. They will probably just watch to see if it grows.

2 Reactions@johndavis60 - Hi John. No, not confirmed but the report narrative states, " ...both newly observed pelvic lymph node and pulmonary nodule are consistent with malignant neoplasm development. Repeat of PSMA PET/CT is recommended."
Have bone scan later today and the doc was waiting for both to order PSMA scan. Apparently, he's been getting his hand slapped for PSMA PET medical necessity, so he just wanted back up so it didn't happen in my case. If current comfort level is any indicator, I'm pretty sure bone scan is going to light up too. Thanks for asking!

3 ReactionsSome research shows that compression socks and gloves are better, and certainly more comfortable than ice boots and gloves. Additionally, taxotere can close your tear ducts. Make sure you watch out for this and see an eye doctor if any tearing is noted. Suggest you fact check AI for side effects from docetaxel and prevenatative measures. Wish I had !!!

4 Reactions@alperk - Thanks...yea I have 2 pages of "possibles" hanging on the fridge of things that aren't passed out with the standard literature. Also, not my first go around with this drug. My wife had 10 courses, so I dug out all the stuff from her experience too. Her biggest issues were nausea day 3-5, darkening nails, a white cell crash putting her in intensive care, and, of course, hair loss. That was 15 years ago and SE's are managed much better now but they sure still happen. F/I...Neulasta was pretty new then and was an IV drip, requiring a hospital overnight. Not so today.
