Hi prashantnayal ...... what you've got is TMJ .... temporal mandibular joint dysfunction. It usually comes from clenching your teeth together and it causes the joints on either side to get very sore. I had it some years ago, and first the Oral Surgeon told me to only eat soft foods, noodles, applesauce, mashed potatoes, etc. In the meantime he took an impression of my mouth and had a mouth guard made for me which fit over my either upper or lower when I slept at night. I forget if it was upper or lower. It took time but eventually went away, but I used the mouth guard for a long time after that.

Have you ever popped your knuckles? I know that some people get into a habit of doing it and can't stop. Perhaps you are doing something similar when you pop your jaw. Why don't you try to think about something else when you start to pop it? You can try many different things to stop the habit. One thing I thought of is counting to 20 whenever the thought comes, and tell yourself that you won't do anything until after counting. Just a thought. Sometimes it can be harder to stop a habit than to start one. Can you think of other things you could do to distract yourself? Or maybe have someone massage your neck and jaw to relax it. That would really feel good!
