I have a rash on my penis after prostatectomy due to removal of cathe

Posted by johnzzz @johnzzz, 1 day ago

Just had my prostate removed. 7 weeks post surgery. Several setbacks. Becaused of the catheter having been removed twice I have a rash on my penis which is very irritating. Tried all sorts of urologist recommended solutions to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm schuelded to have the I.R. drain put back in for the 2nd time. Seems like an endless journey. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks...

Not sure it will help but I use the condom catheters everyday. My skin doesnt breathe well. I use bag balm every evening. So far, 6 years and working.

Yeast, irritants and allergic contact to
appliances or underlying dermatological conditions all possible. Can you get in with a skin specialist?

have you tried cortisol ointment ???
I imagine you have some contact dermatitis from the tape or gloves ..it should resolve in a week or so..wash with mild soap and warm water..cortisone ointment...so upside is you know it isnt STD !

I had 2 surgery now in last 6 months urinary sling and penial implant both times I had a severe allergic skin rash very painful on its own not counting the surgery. I used corticosteroids cream and took Benadryl to the maximum dosage for about 1 to 2 weeks. It helped I cleared up fastest when using Benadryl to max. Also doctor said to let it open to air to help keep it dry. The first time I had blisters on my penis gland that was the worse. Hope you get relief soon.
