Tymlos vs Evenity

@boneoptimist Yes, just had a DEXA on Aug 28. Zero change, but complicated drug sequence, with both previous meds D/C'd after 2 doses, due to severe systemic allergic reactions. At Day 24, and with 5-10 large and very angry welts remaining on my stomach at any given time (would take 5-10 days to fade), and then followed by true recall welts and possibly connected rash on my chest and then amped-up by the burning, swollen, and red lips, tongue, and face, all pointed to another dangerous systemic hypersensitivity allergic reaction. Other side effects were enough to cause a half-dose, which my provider has been against from the beginning, due to being off-label. The only reason I've been allowed to continue is due to my high-stakes leg salvage situation. Far from ideal and far from being a safe move. Should Tymlos fail, the only possible next-step is a non-anabolic, weaker-anti-resorptive option with a Transdermal Estradiol Patch + Promethium. That option is already been deemed necesarry to have comfirmed via my gyno, with regards to my personal Hx. All other OP meds are off the table, due to my previous reactions and history. If I can tolerate Tymlos for another 12-18 months, then Forteo would like be put back on the table. Sadly, that's big if, but hooing for the best.

@wilweten Interesting!! I guess with an overseas address, Tymlos may not be willing to mail you the chart and carry case (?). You could call and ask (or try to request it online). Can't remember, but it may have all been included with something called a new patient or welcome kit (???).

FYI - Tymlos/Radius doesn't supply a free sharps container, but one is offered each month to be shipped for free by my Specialty Pharmacy, along with my Tymlos pen, alcohol wipes, and needle tips (bandaids, if wanted), etc. Of course, a new sharps container is not needed until about 5 months. Also, I have to drop off my filled container at our local fire department, who also offered a free replacement one.

@cathyf31 , did I tell you that I'm only on 5 clicks? I can't tolerate 6 (i still try 6 clicks every 4 weeks or so). So I've been on 5 clicks for 11 months now. I think I mentioned that I discussed my worry about the 5 clicks level with my Dr, but she was just at an OP conference, and the latest research is showing that both Tymlos and the anti-resorptives will probably have good results at the lower doses. She basically said that my body might just have stay at 5 clicks, and while she cannot tell me to stay at that level, because the manufacturer's dosage is 8 clicks, she thinks it will be fine, and I'm getting great results at this level.

The other thing I'm thinking/hoping is that when we test again at 18 months to see if my body is still responding to the drug, if it shows diminished response, then I can try to inject closer to the full dosage, and maybe kick start my body's response again? I have no clue if that even makes sense physiologically....Like you, I'm determined to get the best results from this drug as I can!

I have been on tymlos for 18 months and we are traveling internationally right now. I chose tymlos because it did not need to be refrigerated once the pen is open.
If we were going to be out longer than 3 weeks, I would have purchased a small medication cooler from Amazon. On the whole, I find it easy to travel with. I have the pen and extra pen needles in a zip lock with a smaller ziplock inside for the used pen needles. Of course, I do have to remember to take it everyday, but my routine is breakfast, then my dose of tymlos.
