Coordinating PNET, diabetes, and now chronic kidney disease
Hello,again. Got on to another horse on the doctor merry-go-round! My PRRT oncologid wanted me to see a nephrologist and I connected with one, whom I met today. A good visit, informative and reassuring. It seems I'm at stage 3a so I'll make the necessary adjustments. But it does seem as if the dietary patterns for kidney disease are the complete opposite of the dietary suggestions to control my insulin dependent diabetes, all complicated by (as expected) dietary tract reactions to lanreotide. How do others cope?

@brucegs Sorry to hear about the kidney issues on top of your already PNET and diabetes. I too have a PNET and diabetes. I am curious how the dietary patterns for kidney disease are the complete opposite of the dietary suggestions for diabetes. Can you please give me a few examples? I too am trying to balance a diet with multiple issues. Thanks.

@brucegs, was the nephrologist concerned about PRRT effects on the kidneys? Have you met with a dietitian familiar with CKD and diabetes diets?

3 Reactions@colleenyoung Actually, was the PRRT oncologists who wanted me to see a nephrologist. I think they were concerned about the effects of both the treatment ad the multiple scans with contrast material on the kidneys.
@colleenyoung thank you for tagging me in in your response to @brucegs. I worked REALLY hard on a well thought out response to him and got the dreaded spinning wheel! It did not post. I had thought I could offer something helpful regarding dietary concerns seeing as how I’ve had diabetes for 51 years and CKD for 21 years. Evidently I’m doing something wrong?!
