Cannot find the cause of neuropathy after multiple tests
My husband has very bad neuropathy that seems to be getting worse. We've put out a few thousand in drs, tests, specialist. We have no known cause and he is fairly young at only 53 years old. Hes not overweight, hes not underweight either. Any suggestions? Bloodwork is all good. We currently have a lapse in medical coverage because he had to retire from his job. Where do we go from here? As his wife and only caregiver I can see his frustration growing, He's angry, frustrated, cranky and in horrible pain both legs, knees, calves, feet and toes. He's starting to feel it in his left arm, wrist, hand, fingers. I don't know how else to help him. We've tried different creams, sprays, roll on's, supplements, and even got a vibration exercise board, hot tub and a treadmill. Nothing is working. Please help!

It’s a journey to figure out neuropathy diagnoses. It’s a process of elimination and there are lots of tests. I went through those many doctors and tests. From your description the symptoms are growing. Mine were growing and changing. Ultimately, MRIs were done of the brain, cervical spine and lumbar. Lesions were discovered. A lumbar puncture procedure confirmed sclerosis (MS). MS symptoms are different with each person. You might ask your MD about MS testing to eliminate that diagnosis.

2 Reactions@sbelur what level of Pregabalin are you using?
Have you tried using Alpha lipoic acid? It must be the R form at 600 mg per day.

1 Reaction@rockon79 has anyone been prescribed Tramadol?
@blowerk1216 25 mg only. That itself makes me lightheaded.
@blowerk1216
I just started 200mg of R-ALA to begin with. I'll up my dose each week or so, if my body handles it ok.
Perhaps just watch your sugar level from dropping too much with ALA.
@sbelur I have the research that shows Pregabalin only starts to be effective at 300 mg.
@ppfsecretary I have same issues, my doctor actually prescribed a walking aid with wheeels and s seat, I cannot stand for very long.
