The Caregivers' Guilt Dumpster - Open for business

I feel guilty for resenting my siblings who have chosen to be willfully ignorant about Mom’s dementia. As soon as I start to voice Mom’s current dementia status and the daily care (I live with her 24/7) she deserves (I am doing my best) they get defensive and hostile. I resent them for being in denial about Mom’s cognitive decline. I feel guilty that Mom has anxiety based on fear of abandonment because of my siblings choosing to believe Mom is the same today as she was 1 year ago and that let’s them off the hook to make an effort to spend time with her. I feel better tossing this guilt into the dumpster.

@amrap It sounds like your siblings with their denials of the disease's progression gives them an emotional excuse not to be involved or help. Sadly for all.
