Tymlos 6 clicks

Posted by phaddad1966 @phaddad1966, Dec 30, 2025

I’m 59 years old. Started on forteo in August. I was on it for 6 weeks but the body pain was horrible. I took 2 weeks off and then started Tymlos. Started at 2 clicks and have been on 6 clicks for several months now. I do well with it. When I went up past 6, the pain was unbearable. I’m not due for a bone density scan until January 30, but I was wondering if anyone had an increase just doing 6 clicks?

Can you explain what you meant when you said you “started at 2 clicks and have been on 6 clicks”? Were you referring to the Tymlos dosage? When I received my pen, it was labeled as 80 mcg, so I’m not sure how the clicks relate to the dose. Do you decide the number of clicks, or does the doctor? I just started Tymlos and have been having some unusual symptoms, so I’m considering asking my doctor if I can begin with a much lower dose. But I dont know how much is the lowest?

My doctor recommended to start at 2 the first week I’m going to three and someone. I made it up to six and then after that the pain was too bad so I stayed at six. I originally did forte, but that was not a click pen like the TYMLOS. You didn’t have the option to adjust the dose. This medication is very serious stuff and you need to advocate for yourself.

I started with the full dose (8 clicks), and had fatigue. After a few months I also had muscle weakness. I finally had to cut back on work, so my doctor said take a Tymlos break for 2 weeks and see if it improves. I felt better. I decided to go back on at 6 clicks, with no side effects. The doctor said ok. 2 years later, my DEXA improved from -3.6 to -3.0 in my lumbar spine. I do recommend trying to eventually go to 7 or 8 clicks if you have been on the 6 and symptom free for awhile which I didn't do but I wish I had.

I do 7 clicks or 70 mcg, rather than the 8 click 80 mcg standard dose. Within 2 months my P1NP went from 55 to 97. The 55 reading was a result in November, some 6 weeks after I first began Tymlos. I plan to remain at 70 mcg since 80 mcg gave me annoying side effects. 70 mcg apparently works fine for me, a 110 lb. 77 year old woman.

I’m extremely nervous as well. I do well on 6 clicks. I inject it at night and I get a little nauseous and uncomfortable but it goes away after a few hours. I can’t go past 6 though. Pain is unbearable. Best of luck to you. Hope it goes well.

@phaddad1966 I took 5 clicks for 2 weeks then went up to 6 clicks for 10 days and did well except for fatigue and mild headaches. I was willing to tolerate this for ( hopefully) good gains. Then I went to 7 clicks and things went awful. I had the most severe unbearable pain in my whole back, couldn’t barely walk, stand up or function. Also felt exhausted and had leg and hand cramps and spasms. Also very moody and irritable. I took 2 dsys off and felt fine,,was back to my normal self, fully functioning. I now am back on 5 clicks and will go to 6 in a week. My P A said its ok to do this but she said to try 7 again in a few days. I believe I should not go past 6, or I can’t do it 24 months.Never been through that level of excruciating pain. I hope 6 will be enough to help me. Bless you all!
