@lizzieqmention, I forgot to say where I live, in Northeast Indiana. I can see the Ohio state line from the front yard. It is terribly hot and humid. The cats and our Chihuahua are laying around as if in a trance. They like fans, so that helps. You have me wanting to try the stent again. When I used it the first time, it was hard to get it placed in the opening. It was becoming something dreaded to remove and clean, knowing I would have to put it back in again. It actually brought tears... stinging tears. Maybe it is the wrong size? One thing is sure, a person learns something new every day! Thank you for getting me to rethink this device. Please let me know if it is painful when you have to remove, etc.

@thomason I completely understand! For me, it’s never sore when I take it out or put it back in, unless I have a cold and the area is already tender. I would describe it more as uncomfortable than painful. When I put mine in, I use a little jelly to help it slide in easier, and I lay down first so my neck muscles are relaxed. It makes a big difference for me. I definitely think the size could make a difference too. And yes, you really do learn something new every day!

Make sure your ENT has a substantial amount of experience with the Hood
stoma stent system. The laryngologist that put mine in originally, retired
apprx.10 years ago. An ENT (with 34 yrs experience in his field) told me at
my last visit this past January that he had never seen a Hood Stoma Stent.
So there are not that many people that share our handicap. I am told there
are less than one person in a million that shares my particular condition.

Do you live near Ft. Wayne?
