Has anyone had TKR at age 86?
Would like to read some success stories and/or difficult experiences about TKR for older people like me. I am 86 and planning TKR in 6-8 months. Would like to hear from someone who had this surgery who is this old.

Get a copy of the PT exercises you will have to do after your TKR and donthem several times a day BEFORE surgery. Whatever your age that will be key to having a successful experience.
I am 81 and had my RTKR at 80 and in a few hours I am going to the Mayo Clinic for carpal tunnel endoscopic wrist surgery. Don't let your age hold you back!
My one concern is anesthesia. I am good at finding great surgeons and trust them; but I am terrified of general anesthesia. For my knee replacement I made sure that the anesthesia was regional and for my wrist the same. I have seen too many reports of elderly patients not fully recovering from general anesthesia. My one recommendation is to avoid general anesthesia. I have spinal and lumbar stenosis as well and I have a superb neurosurgeon on call for when my steroid shot stops working (he has written a primer for other surgeons on how to do minimally invasive spinal surgery).
