My dad diagnosed with Glioblastoma Grade 4 tumor

You need to ask as many questions as you can of his doctors/specialists. My husband was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma in late March. He also had surgery with hopes of more time. However we were never given the full biopsy report and 18 days later as he was getting ready for 6 weeks daily radiation and chemo, he suffered a stroke. We were told it was caused by pressure from the tumor recurring. We were never promised and told upfront that it was like dropping seeds into soil then trying to pull up weeds, you can never get them all. We
were told there was no cure, his condition was terminal but never expected it to return so quickly. Sadly 45 days from initial diagnosis he passed. I have read there is a newly discovered treatment where the cells are frozen that has been successful but we didn't know and were never offered that. So again, ask questions. I will pray for him.

Probably both, dead tumor cells in the center from what I have read about his predicament. My sibling has GBM, with another MRI next month…where was the surgery done in his brain?

An article in NY Magazine written by Christopher Cox. It included several Neurosurgeons and researchers at Mass General Cancer Center. I understand the two doctors (Dr. Choi and Dr. Maus) also published their results in the NE Journal of Medicine. The treatment included Car-T cells. I hope this helps.

Cells frozen for other parts of body. Still research going on for brain because it has to cross brain blood barriers.

For solid tumors such as glioblastoma (brain tumors), CAR-T is still largely experimental/clinical-trial treatment.

@keer my sibling was right side…he had surgery very quickly, 80 per cent removal. However, he has methylated and wild type which is the worst of the worst condition. Did both chemo and radiation and did well with side effects. He is pretty athletic which helps and vegetarian Keto type diet.

I don’t know about his recent mri with a follow up one in about six weeks…he prefers to not upset us but reading between the lines it’s not good. Has been on Keppra since the initial diagnosis which helps.

I don’t think he is eligible for any trials…one has to consider longevity and quality of life…
