How soon to have PSA check post biopsy?

Good day! I had a biopsy early July this year at Cancer Center of Excellence. Was put on AS as results indicate GG1, gleason 6 with decipher of 0.13. The biopsy was due to MRI showing PRADs 4 lesion, not because of high or climbing PSA score. The fusion guided biopsy at lesion site reflects benign tissue, but core from other area had the GG1 (10%). Pre biopsy PSA was 0.6 and now at 8 weeks post biopsy it is 1.44. AS program has me checking PSA every 6 months, but I wanted see what it was doing so had it checked. I think it's above my baseline due to trauma from biopsy and it will take more time to settle down. Sound right?

In your situation, every six months is a good timeline.

Your PSA is low
Your decipher is low
Your gleason is 3+3

You may be able to stay on AS for many years.

Yes, there is usually still some trauma even at 8 weeks post biopsy, even if ejaculation is now clear. At a Gleason 6 with just 10% wait the full 6 months and the trauma will be gone. PSA can also be slightly elevated by bike riding, sex, heavy weightlifting within 48 hours before blood draw. Typically, it is many years (if ever) for a case like yours to progress to a level where treatment is required. All effective treatments have serious negative side effects which you should avoid as long as possible.

Your PSA is way too low to be a consideration yet. Wait, three months and get another PSA test and see what’s going on. It would be unusual for it to rise much more quickly, But anything is possible.

Ask your doctor about getting tested in three months just to give you some relief from the tmental Anguish You are experiencing now due to a rise you don’t understand.

Normally going on active surveillance makes a lot of sense with what they found.
