@vmcgrantham, I felt the same way as you do when I started Forteo. I didn't want to take the sequential medications. It is more difficult for you because of the presence of autoimmune systems. The doctor was firm that I would have to take Reclast following Forteo.
Since the black box has been removed from Forteo, some endocrinologist are prescribing the drug for longer courses. Some are trying to figure out which patients would benefit. Rather unexpectedly the endocrinologist I see decided that I might be one who would benefit.
If I did have to quit Forteo, I would take risedronate for as short a course as possible and return to Forteo. Risedronate might be a good choice for you because it is the shortest acting, considered the weakest of the bisphosphonates.
I'm glad the Forteo isn't causing you any trouble. It's a dream drug for me. I'm on my 4th year.

@vmcgrantham : I was specifically responding to @wishmeluck and the information she presented. Your narrative was a bit confusing but it's clear enough to know you have some genuine concerns. It appears you're asking for medical advice. I'm not qualified and it would not be ethical for me to even attempt to do so. All I can provide is my personal health journey and, hopefully, in doing so, to let others know they are not alone; and, offer encouragement to let others know challenges can be overcome.
I have a sister with cancer and she has a team to provide direction in her medical care. I don't want to add to your frustrations, but have you checked with your oncologist and/or an endocrinologist who understands how to combine treatments of care with osteoporosis and cancer issues. I understand your frustrations, fears, and concerns and will pray that you get the answers you need to have a quality of life free of doubt.
