Upper left back spasms. Over 10 years now with no solution.

Posted by raver @raver, 1 day ago

I've had these spasms for 10 years now. Many doctors, tests, scans, etc. Pain levels are a 10 to a 2 at the 18th hour. Pain is akin to a Charlie Horse. I'm now scheduled for another MRI. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

raver, with chiropractors as well as pain specialists there is a broad range of talent. Your pain specialist must be helping you a little (or is it all hope) for you to have stayed with him these last five years. I'm glad you'll be having an MRI and I hope you tell us what it says. Cervical and thoracic?

Have you tried acupuncture?I used to have back spasms. They almost felt like a labor contraction - I could feel it coming on, and it would increase to a point where I really couldn’t stand it, and then it would subside until the next one. I researched, asked my primary, and found an excellent acupuncturist. It has made all the difference - needling, cupping, gua sha - no more back pain!

Yes, several of them and many other types of non medical professionals. The pain was so bad I took a hammer to my back. Still didn't help.
