NET tumor of pancreas (1 cm) diagnosed
I am 73 year old diagnosed with a 1 cm NET of pancreas that was found incidentally on a CT scan that was done for another issue. The surgeon I was referred to recommended to just follow up in a year with another CT scan. He said a biopsy may not be able to get anything because of the small size. I am on the fence, should I go ahead with a biopsy or is it a waste of time?
Also, the surgeon said an enucleation couldn't be done? I don't understand that and am going to further question him about this. Has anyone had an enucleation of a small tumor of pancreas? I am afraid the tumor will grow and would like it removed, but I am not willing to have a Whipple at my age. Maybe a biopsy will tell how fast it is growing?

It was 1.4 by 1.3 so relatively small. It reduced a 10th if a centimeter and went right back to its original meadurements. Treatment of liver tumors was really effective for a time…they were so small they were hard to measure. Then boom, they were growing again. He’s had one PRRT infusion. Hoping for good results.

Hi. I had a very small neuroendocrine tumor on the head of my pancreas found totally by accident. I had a second biopsy ( the first doctor couldn’t get cells because it was so small) and to my surprise and the doctors it was malignant. I am 69 and 1 year out from my whipple surgery. @ln

@hopeful33250 please see my post on to Whipple or not to Whipple. I’m actually not doing that great, but I don’t wanna make anybody feel that that’s the story for everybody. Hopefully no pun intended. Things will get better @ln
