Any non fracture members?
I guess I’m just looking for some encouraging words. I was diagnosed in February and still working through the different stages of grief/loss. I seem to have more days stuck in depression/sadness.
So, was just wondering if anyone on here has dealt with OP for quite a while and hasn’t fractured? I know you can fracture even if your scores are osteopenia range. I feel like everyday I’m just waiting for a fracture to happen. Im exercising 6 days a week and watching my food intake. I’m just hoping as time goes on this feeling lessens. Sometimes I’m not sure if it’s the diagnosis that’s making me sad or just the fact that I’m getting older, I’m 60, and reality has finally set in.

My thoughts: If you have been active all your life and aren't breaking bones now, maybe treat the osteoporosis but keep up being active. The DEXA scan gives you a score and statistics provide context. The one statistic we don't have is how many people have scores in the osetopenia/porosis range but stay active and never break a bone.
I spent the first year or more after diagnosis hoping that every move I made wasn't the one that broke a hip. That was five years ago. I never stopped being active and even started bouldering. I regret those months living with that worry. Dirty little secret is that docs only know what they've been told and they repeat it like gospel - because they're only people, not for any bad reasons.
