I am 10 months post op tkr and battle with lower back pain most every day.
I can walk, but can't stand periods of time. Like trying to cook dinner.

I am 58 y.o. I had TKR on my right knee 21 months ago. I am experiencing excruciating pain on my lower right back.
I cannot go to the ortho or any specialist for this until October 2027 because I am retiring in October this year and my new private insurance will consider this a pre-existing condition and it will not be covered for 5 years if I go to the doctor now. So my options are, wait a year until it’s covered and go to specialist then, and in the meantime try doing some core and lumbar-strengthening exercises, or go now and pay out of pocket if treatment continues past this October.
I work full time and this is really affecting my ability to function normally. I don’t know what to do.

@ollipop Really? I thought that if you had continuity of service, that there was no precondition condition imposed under federal law.

The price of what is covered can be related to the Policy you chose. You may want to read closer on another Policy type.

@ollipop I am right there with you. It will 2 years in November for mine. I have to be cautious when walking and how I walk. Be sure to roll your foot each step and take shorter strides. This helps me. I lean forward with arms on a wall and stretch my leg back and hold, then stand on toes. I do these a few times a day. It seems to help me.

Oh, Lord.
I definitely feel for you, because I have that now! I have to arrange things to sit at our counter to prepare because standing for longer than 5 minutes of my back screaming at me of lower back pain which originally started when my knees started hurting more. It started with only on the left side but now it goes lower back all across the back. When I sit, I have no pain. I was hoping that having bilateral tkr that that would take care of the pain so this makes me very worried. I have not had my surgery yet.
