I thought a AUS was a guarantee no leakage as it has like a shutoff valve. But I am still learning-lots.

AUS is not quite a guarantee, as circumstance, our bodies (urethras particularly), our age, etc. can shape the outcome. I postponed having the surgery for several years because at first I was horrified by the idea. Perhaps had I done so earlier the artificial sphincter might have performed more effectively. Nevertheless, it has made an enormous difference and I am grateful my surgeon just kept saying “Well, someday you may change your mind & then we’ll do the surgery.”He didn’t push.
Though had I known about this Forum I might have felt more confident from reading about the experience of others & chosen to do it a few years earlier.
