I am 58 y.o. I had TKR on my right knee 21 months ago. I am experiencing excruciating pain on my lower right back.
I cannot go to the ortho or any specialist for this until October 2027 because I am retiring in October this year and my new private insurance will consider this a pre-existing condition and it will not be covered for 5 years if I go to the doctor now. So my options are, wait a year until it’s covered and go to specialist then, and in the meantime try doing some core and lumbar-strengthening exercises, or go now and pay out of pocket if treatment continues past this October.
I work full time and this is really affecting my ability to function normally. I don’t know what to do.

@ollipop Really? I thought that if you had continuity of service, that there was no precondition condition imposed under federal law.
