Priming Tymlos pen?

Posted by jopat @jopat, 6 days ago

Hi, I've read through lots of posts about starting Tymlos at a lower dose and that's what I'm going to try. One question I can't find the answer to: the directions say to prime the for the full dose. Is that ok to do if I plan to start with 4 clicks? Or should I also prime with only 4 clicks? Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Have you seen the TYMLOS video? I watched it 5 times and didn’t do it right. Do what everyone told me. Register at TYLMLOS. Then call the Clinic Educator. The number is on their website.
Good luck!

Priming a pen is just what it means, priming--whether you're taking the full dose or lower dose. Early in the months of treatment, I did forget to prime one time and nearly worried myself to death that I did something harmful to myself until I heard back from the endocrinology nurse. Obviously, I lived, but you better believe that I haven't made that mistake again. Here's why priming is important: it shows that the pen and the various parts are working and there's nothing blocking the medication; there's no air bubbles to prevent the correct dosage; air takes up space that should be occupied by the medication.
