Post Knee Revision Surgery, crooked leg

Posted by suzlieb @suzlieb, Aug 24, 2023

The date of revision surgery was 7/17/23, only 2 years after the original L knee replacement. From the start, my left leg feels crooked. The left foot turns inward. I can look at my foot and push it out and it just won’t go. PT indicates that it’s a weak muscle; however, it feels like a crooked bone. Planning to address with the surgeon at my f/u on 8/30.

Anyone else experience this?
Thank you.

With my original TKR, the glue did not hold and the bone began to bow outward. People thought I was crazy until they looked at me and could clearly see the bowing. I had revision. Don't give up. Make them listen. I had to find a new doctor because the one who did the surgery just kept saying you're okay, you're okay. Make them hear you. Good luck.

I had my TKR 3 years ago. Now am told the plastic spacer is deteriorating? I limp and have knee pain? They are doing a revision 9/13 and have no idea nor do they how much revision will be necessary.

Obviously, I meant to say the implant began to bow, not the bone since the bone was removed. Not sure how to edit on this site.

@shawndm We must’ve had the same Dr. mine wouldn’t listen either. I had my 1st TKR in ‘21 my next 8 months later when I asked could I be allergic to something. He asked what I’m allergic to. Duh, it’s been on my files since late 80’s. So he and another revision Dr took out the joint n added a new joint. Putting in a post up my femur n down n my tibia. 1st surgery he did cut out my knock knee. So for 2 yrs I did PT at the facility he worked out of. Didn’t help. I did 5 back to back PT’s. I ended up begging him in the end to do a CT or ultrasound. No, X-ray looks good come back n 6 weeks. 😩ugh! So my Family Dr said let’s send you elsewhere for PT. It took 3 visits for this guy to recognize what the issue was. For main thing it was rubbing or rather cutting n sawing into my femur. I kept telling the 1st Dr something cutting into my muscle. So my PT gave me a phone # to call that fixes other Drs mistakes. Upon arriving we saw a guy in a sling. He had surgery due to another Dr mistakes. So seeing the Dr he said for 1 your knee joint is very loose, it’s wrong size patella n of course cutting into half my femur. I finally got someone to believe me that I cried. He said he will put in a new joint n adjust as needed. That was last yr Oct. at PT the cap slipped again. Then I just had another yest. Which is all he can do. There is another procedure but he don’t wanna think about sending me elsewhere for revision on top of revision where they’ll take out all the posts n redo my knee. But it’s most likely I wouldn’t make it off the table. With bones cracking n bleeders it don’t look promising. So he did my 4th surg in May this yr. All was good at 1 month exactly when I was at PT and I pushed through my exercises n of course, right back onto my femur. He had cut a groove out where it was cutting. So had my 5th one yest. I sure pray this works. He said he put in a 38 cap. Where the 1st Dr put in a 8. 😢It’s been a long nearly 5 years of dealing w this. I got sent home yest w a pain pump, I think he said it was a lidocaine pump. I’m home PT supposed to call n come out today. I hope I don’t have the continuous burning on top my cap. It burned from 1st surgery. Dr said he’d check for infection. It’s miserable walking on a bum leg, even Worse when you can’t get your Dr to listen. We all know our bodies. If you have an issue, follow up on it day of. Drs always getting double booked, no reason for us have to sit 2 hrs to seek help. I saw that Dr yest walk by my door. He seemed lil concerned I was there. I said it just isn’t right. I had been watching videos n reading, which our daughter is a pharmacy tech always gets onto me for Dr Googling. Well this question paid off I know. I asked my Dr could this be a misalignment issue n he seemed to agree Yes. Couple weeks ago at his office my Dear Hubby who we celebrated our 47 wedding anniversary last Tues. he had asked about shs n shoes to be able to help align well. Dr said yes. So that may be next step. Praying for All who suffers just like Me. Hopefully this surgery was a success. God Bless! 🥰 🙏
