Do you happen to have an allergy to nickel? I am researching any connection of my nickel allergy to my years of overactive bladder.
Oh my God? I thought I was the only one. Yes, diagnosed about 15 years ago. I have urinary retention, and need to do intermittent catheter. I’ve been getting recurring UTIS. Since May I’ve had three episodes. I just completed taking Cipro yesterday, but I’m very uncomfortable, experiencing burning again. May need to get another culture to confirm if infection is still active.
I went to an infection specialist and she prescribed Fosomycin 3grams every 10 days. The Doc said it would eventually stop working. Anyway how often do you catheterize? I do it frequently as i dont want a backup of urine to my kidneys
@suzy0509
I only do four times in 24 hours, every six hours. On two of those I get 350 to 400 cc. Other times, I get between 150 to 250. My doctor just recommended four times, but I think four is too few times. Especially since I get so many UTIS. May I ask how many times you catheterize?I think I want to do more times. Thanks
.
I catheterize every night I wake up to pee then catheterize after that to get all the urine out of my bladder. If you dont catheterize and leave urine in bladder you'll get utis as urine is not supposed to sit in bladder long. I catheterize about every 4-6 hours or ive gone as long as 8 hours on a rare occasion. Drink more water. Im getting about 500-600 cc every time
