Does anyone have short bowel syndrome?

Posted by tj @tjanet, Jan 28, 2024

5 years ago I had a small intestines blockage and had to have all but 2 feet of my small intestines removed. I was on TPN and a feeding tube for a couple years years now I am eat food. I am able to eat most foods except raw vegetables and high fiber foods.
Over two years ago I started having constant abdominal spasms and constant nausea, doctors don't know what is causing it. The spasms feels like someone is twisting my insides and some pressure. Nausea medications don't help with the nausea.

Don't know what to do. My GI doctor isn't treating my ileus and he isn't treating my Short Bowel Syndrome symptoms. My GI doctor wants to still treat my Short Bowel Syndrome as IBS, I don't have IBS. Doctors want to also say that it's psychological however it is not psychological, it is medical issues that are not being treated in a medical way. Treating my Short Bowel Syndrome as IBS makes my Short Bowel Syndrome worse. GI doctor wants to refer me to a pain doctor to see about getting a spinal cord stimulater, however from research about short bowel syndrome a spinal cord stimulater can make short bowel syndrome worse. My GI doctors doesn't specialize in Short Bowel Syndrome. So I continue to suffer all the time with constant upper left abdominal pain. What can I take to help with constant abdominal pain? Not related to food. Doesn't change with bowel movements. Walking and moving around doesn't change my abdominal pain. Pushing on my abdomen doesn't change my abdominal pain. Pain is different than what it was a couple years ago. I am not having spasms, it is constant abdominal pain.

I have an appointment with my GI doctor in a couple days. Hope he has some ideas this time, the last couple GI doctor visits didn't help me at all. But this GI doctor doesn't specialize in Short Bowel Syndrome. My health issues are getting worse. Family members don't understand my health issues so they don't think that I need to see a specialist for my Short Bowel Syndrome.
