Does anyone have refused folfox treatment after chemo radiation?
Then what happened?
I have T3N1 rectal cancer.
Thank you so much

Would u mind sharing what your experience was with Xeludo. You indicated u had a tough time with it. My sister is T4A and this drug was recommended to her today. The doctor indicated that Folfox was for more aggressive form of cancer.

@115 I got the results of the biopsy and it is benign. At first I it scared me into thinking I needed the chemo right away. After a weekend of worrying and talking to my SIL who is surviving stage 4 anal cancer, I wonder what would they be treating if the scans are clear and the biopsy is ok. What are my next steps?

@115 we all have to do what’s right for us.
I chose not to do chemo pills after surgery. It was presented as a “preventative “ which seemed strange as I felt the damage to good cells and my immune system wasn’t worth the risk for me.
After not being able to eat normally for months, I would not deal with being sick for 6 months.
All my bloodwork was good, ct clear and ces at a normal 2.
I continue surveillance, coming up again in September again.
I am happy with my choice.
I know something could show up later but wasn’t willing to justify making myself sick for months with no evidence.
Again, we all choose what’s best, as we see it.
I found I had to be firm and not be pushed into something I didn’t choose.
Best of luck. You are not alone.

Thanks for your reply. In my case which they tell me is unusual I had surgery first then chemo and radiation. I’m a T3N0 Stage 2A. I haven’t heard back from my oncologist yet as to what chemo I’ll be taking. He said a lot of my discomfort was from the radiation so I don’t know what just the chemo pills would be like. Also I took them 5 days a week along with radiation and only a 2 day break in between weeks. I don’t want to feel sick for months but I also don’t want it coming back.

Hi, I had xeloda with radiation for 5 weeks and I did not have a lot of side effects except being more tired and diarrhea after about 3 or 4 weeks. There is medicine which helps for that.
All depend on the person, she will only really know as she goes through the treatment. I hope the best for her.
I had the result of my MRI and it shows T0N0.

@115
I forgot to mention, I did not have surgery prior to my treatment and because I had a complete response I will not have surgery after the next treatment of Folfox.
Best wishes for your sister, only her can decide what she wants and are willing to do
