Reclast side effects 3 months post-infusion

Posted by kaa1 @kaa1, 3 days ago

I received Reclast Infusion in May. I had a horrible flu reaction for a few weeks, even though I took all the recommended steps to minimize that. Recovered from that, but I notice the last month or so I unusual stiffness in my low-mid spine, upper thighs and groin, neck, and thumb/wrist of one hand. I have had neck issues and arthritis diagnosed in my hand previously , but it’s worse now. I teach yoga and practice a lot and I definitely have noticed a significant difference in my range of motion. It’s taken me a while to figure out that this may be a side effect of the medication. At first I thought it’s from turning 65. I sent a note to my doctor through the patient portal, I really doubt there’s anything that can be done about it but wanted to post and see if others are having this experience. And any suggestions most appreciated. Thank you.

I don’t have a link to his books but here is where he is at now…he was at Dartmouth for a long time. A friend of mine was a research nurse in his lab and is now a PA.

Here is a link to his publications…he is the best…very smart and he really cares about his patients. I gave him a very hard time but he convinced me to do what at the time was thought to be hocus pocus medicine…now those doctors who have kept up to date and in the know follow the guidance

Osteoporosis and its treatment have a lot of conflicting information involved I think...some docs don't do bone markers for example, some do, bisphosphonates as first treatment, some choose anabolic instead, some send you to PT, some just suggest exercise with don't jump, don't lift too much and yet some say high impact, lift a lot of weight, some do basic CMP bloodwork, some do more complete (like a 24-hour urine testing for calcium I believe among other tests). Then there is DEXA...with TBS or without, REMS some say good test, some say don't do it. Then there are supplements...Calcium how much, Vitamin D or D3 and how much, Boron, magnesium, vitamin C for collagen and the strontium debate. Then there is nutrition - enough protein, what about collagen addition, protein powders, etc. And if you have any other issues, it does get real crazy. I have avoided dairy for years on advice of my gastro (IBS) but my endo said to up the dairy for calcium plus a 1200 calcium supplement.

@jozer Yes, the whole thing is madness. I opted for Liftmor and increased protein/calcium diet. Declined all medication. I've never been happier.
