DCIS cluster breast cancer

I’m actually asking about a close relative. I was just told that she has stage 1 DCIS cluster in one breast but an MRI done yesterday revealed 2 more clusters. She’s 50 years old and has a family history of breast cancer

Brads 4 amorphous calcifications. Needle core biopsy could not be performed, small breasts. Surgical excision recommended. I saw another on these threads who had the same. Not sure what happened.
I am post menopause, 59. Yearly diagnostics with sonogram having marker placed tomorrow. I probably will have surgery to remove because there does not seem to be adequate tools in the tool box to assess.
Had I been properly examined before going in for core needle biopsy , I feel the doctors might have said …often we are not able to do this but we will try. That way patient has heads up. I am 36 a cup , 112 pounds. I heel healthy and young. I feel old reading some of these threads. I do not like that! 😉
What I am interested in aside from getting this resolved hopefully, is the QT imaging.
I see that Mayo has this machine and it appears to provide a far clearer picture than the standard mri, mammo, tomo, sono…all of which I get. NIH also has this machine. We could have more frequent screenings that are completely safe.
In any case the lead time between appointments is creating tremendous stress. My mother who was a different type of patient died from breast cancer …she was really weakened by the treatment , congestive heart failure etc… I am deeply concerned that the cures and the imaging are harming patients , yet there is no choice .
In addition I can not believe there is no stereotactic pen available for small or thin breast . The length of the pen appears to be the issue. It can go through the side of a thinner breast which is why they won’t do it. Breaks the machine because it can scratch the plate. So off to surgery I must go. Expensive and invasive. So throwing this out there for Mayo to send to their engineers!

@gital Your relative is lucky to have your caring support. It sounds like she is at the start of her diagnostic process and should soon know what her options might be. I found this period the most difficult for me--the uncertainty. Once I ended up knowing the details of my breast cancer and treating it I actually felt better emotionally. And the support of my friends and family was invaluable.
