@gloaming - I've had a TEE (trans esophageal echocardiogram) twice. My concern is, I have a very small mouth and am worried about my teeth getting chipped or broken during the procedure. About two years ago I had several teeth break off at the gum line--cause unknown. I don't need to lose any more teeth.

@fdixon63 Those are legitimate and reasonable concerns, and they should be expressed in direct consultation with the anaesthetist. I told the one who did my second catheter ablation anaesthesia about my first TEE experience, and he seemed delighted that I had spoken up about it. He said he would take pains to ensure my throat wasn't like desert-bound sand-paper when I awakened, and he was right. But I did speak to him.
