Evenity Shots

Have you had a chance to ask the prescribing doctor? If yes, what did they say? Otherwise I assume there is a phone number to call Evenity and report side effects. It might be interesting to know why they say.

I had some similar issues with Evenity. yes, to some dizziness and yes to a Sjogren's flare after each injection thus far. 3 injections so far and I am asking my doc to put me on something else for bone health. being in flare so much takes all the quality out of life. the flare itself creates increased fatigue.

Hi, I'm on Evenity too but am a few months away from my follow up Dexa.

Were you on an antiresorptive medication prior to Evenity? I'm interested in learning whether the fact that I was on Boniva (and couldn't tolerate it due to GI issues) before the Evenity will affect bone formation. I read that the order of these drugs can affect bone formation. I'm not knowledgeable enough to explain it here but you could ask your doctor.

After my 2nd injection I had severe joint, bone pain all over, head to toes! It improved after 5 days then would reoccur suddenly. I take ibuprofen and Tylenol around the clock and use heating pad, also some stretching.
Still having pain episodes.. I hope yours improves soon !

I just had my 5th injection and developed severe pain—mostly in my back. I had been using ice/heat, salon patches, Aleve, Tylenol. The Aleve started hurting my stomach. With my dr.,’s input, I will be stopping the Evenity and will go back in November to discuss another med.
I know this doesn’t answer your question, but hope they find something that works for u. I thought my dr. Would suggest a dexa scan but guess it’s too early and insurance probably would t pay for it.

your information regarding 'side effects' is very relevant for me. my rheumatologist was trying to manage my bone care, but now I see that I really do need an Endocrinologist. my PCP is requesting and I hope it happens soon. I did not know there was any 'order' to how one proceeds with these meds. the rheumatologist had told me, 'pick one'. I picked randomly having no idea what I was doing. Anyone about to start treatment, I would suggest consulting an Endocrinologist as they know all the specifics of these meds.

@carolyn22 hi so sorry u having this with Evenity. its been my experience with osteopenia and now my l4l5 fusion in low bones: its terrifying because 40 percent of normal bone fusions fail hardware breaks or nonfusion. been year and half since the surgeru. on evenity one year before my surgery now stuck with only fosamax pill weekly etc or IV drug i wasnt about to do that. No one would put me on Teripartide or Abalopartide one of these two of the hormonal shots: dont like the monthly shots side effects to any of these either. my side effects Evenity was some 15 to 20 lb weight gain sickening was already fat at 170. drugs made to let u gain and or not lose because they think everyone with low bone is skinny in first place: buried deep in the info. ive researched these drugs in excess my husband says i say NO SUCH THING; THE DRUG CO DONT CARE IF SIDE EFFECTS ARE JUST AS BAD AS DISEASE AND THIS IS A 40 YEAR SENTENCE OF LOW BONES. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MAKING MILLIONS. I DONT HAVE ANY GOOD OPTIONS TO GIVE U. ALL DRUGS ARE HORRIBLE. PICK THE LEAST POISON PROBLEM THERE ISNT ANY. I WISH IT WERE BETTER BUT THAT HAS TO CONE FROM DRUG MAKERS THEMSELVES. TRY ASKING YOUR PHYSICIAN FOR A PRESCRIPTION FOR AN EXTERNAL SPINE STIMULATOR TO GET BONE GROWING. ITS FROM ORTHOFIX GOOGLE IT. @followheart87 yeah i heard that too. i was on fosamax 10 years; 7 of them went ok. then i got gi nausea bad; so took it with breakfast after thst NOT REALIZING CUZ PHYS DIDNT TELL ME IT WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL. SO WASTED 3 YEARS ON IT; now scared to be on it for too long dont want jaw rot and fractured hip or leg bone: insane the side effects from every dang osteoporosis drug out there. check into Orthofix google it: prescription needed for year to get An EXTERNAL BONE STIMULATOR WRAR WITH VELCRO AROUND YOUR FRONT AND BACK. IT REALLY HELPED ME GROW NEW BONE. YOU CAN SELF PAY TO ORTHOFIX COMPANY ACCORDING TO INCOME BUT PHY NEEDS TO SAY MEDICALLY NECESSARY CUZ OTHER OPTIONS NOT WORKING. PUSH THEM FOR IT BECAUSE NO SIDE EFFECTS LIKE ALL THE HORRIBLE DRUG OPTIONS OUT THERE.

@suchris have u had severe back pain befire the evenity? maybe xray will show a spondylolisthesis like i had l4vertebrae falling onto l5. slipped disc. MRI shows this.

@carolyn22 yeah my endocrinologist frpm mayo clinic didnt tell me that either so i had chosen evenity a year befire my l4l5 fusion so after my fusion when i needed way way more bone growth to heal the dam smfusion: i had to go on Fosamax oral pill or do IV Reclast was no way doing the dang IV horrible side effects and uts in your body for 10 years not going out the IV. I needed the Evenity after my fusion. He did not tell me either there was a better way to stagger the drugs. I WAS SO FURIOUS. SO ENDOCRINOLOGIST DIDNT DO ME ANY GOOD. THEY ALL DR THE SAME PROTOCOL. HE DIDNT TELL ME ANY OF THAT SEQUENCE FOR DRUGS EITHER. SO MAD. Hope u have better luck. i now live in fear everyday worsening osteopenia; fosamax fears jaw rot and femur and hip fracture from the drug.
