Forteo or Reclast?

I am 79 years old and went through a quintuple bypass in 2022. Lung cancer 2023 into 2024-January. Ended up with a T6 Compression Fracture in March of 2024 which follow up care was missed. Now in 2026 I have been in excruciating pain on a daily basis and wearing a brace which helps my rib cage. I am waiting to either get Forteo before spinal surgery but the endocrinologist wants me to do Reclast. My spine surgeon suggested Forteo. What should I do now? I have been suffering for so long and have severe degenerative disc disease. Thank you...

So much to consider when taking these drugs. I believe Prolia is required to continue into the future. Reclast is once a year infusion for two or three years followed by a drug holiday. My endo doctor did say Reclast would be my future drug. I don’t know anyone else taking injectable drugs. Would feel alone if not for this website.

@md79 I first purchased a soft pouch at the pharmacy, but it didn’t keep the medication cool enough. The container I purchased for Forteo came from 4allFamily.com. I believe I got the Nomad version. It’s a little pricey at 40$, but it works! When I go through airport security, I usually tape the prescription onto the container, open the lid and put it in the basket with my purse. If it’s in a closed bag, airport security will flag it and you will have to open it for security. Once you get to the website, it will tell you which container you need for the pen you have. Hope this helps!

@ou14mejc Hi, thank you very much for sharing this information. It has been almost 5.5 months since my vertebral fracture, and I feel much, much better. I hope that I can slowly restart my travel plan, so this cooler will be very helpful. Appreciate it!
