Decipher score insights?

No test will really tell you why your cancer caused metastasis, after having a metastasis from the beginning and a low Gleason score. You might find more out if you had more cores taken in another biopsy. The problem is, they only get about 1% of the prostate when they do a biopsy.

I had a 3+4 and had surgery, after surgery they told me I was a 4+3. A Number of people in here have had 4+4 and 4+5 after having surgery, when they only thought they had a 3+4 or 4+3. If your husband had surgery, he could possibly find out what his Gleason score really is, Though it might not change.

You want to get those that metastasis on L3 and L4 zapped as soon as possible. I had a metastasis wrapped around my L4 and had three sessions of SBRT radiation and that seems to have resolved it. The sooner you treated the less damage it does.

A decipher test will tell you how likely you are to have a reoccurrence, Same with the other tests like the ArteraAI.

He should try to switch from Lupron to Orgovyx. Lupron causes plaque buildup Even in the first year. Orgovyx It doesn’t do that and when you stop taking it, your testosterone returns much quicker.

What were the SUVmax scores of each of the metastases? That will tell you how aggressive it is.

Whenever there is a “4” or “5” cell structure in the Gleason score, there is risk of metastasis; it’s the nature of that cell type to metastasize.

jeff and brian have the insights. I was surprised to find that there are additional pages to the decipher score involving the genetics of the tumor itself. I don't know if it helps, though, it is part of why. You can request the additional pages by calling decipher 888-923-4762

Are you referring to the Grid Report? My Decipher report did not include this. I’d be interested in this.

Will Veracyte (the company doing the Decipher) release this additional info if the patient calls them? Or does it need to be the requesting doctor?

hopingtolearn, yes, it's the grid. Veracyte will send you the grid upon request. The Veracyte phone rep told me that the doctors almost never request the grid for their records. It is most efficient to call veracyte directly. I think there is a request form.
Some of the information isn't useful now, but further research may make it useful in the future, though we hope not to have a future with prostate cancer.
PSE episwitch will not give you the grid they create and will only give you a likely/not likely response.
I went through Foundation 1 for somatic testing of a different tumor. They automatically send you the genetics of the tumor plus you are given a list of chemotherapeutic agents that are not effective against your tumor and a list of chemotherapeutic agents in clinical trials with the possibility of being effective against your tumor. Oh, and they give you links to the research involved.
Not only that but they called the hospital that performed the draw to begin a search for the biopsy material that the hospital forgot to send them . Best of all they saved me the the side effects of the three agents that all the medical oncologists prescribed. And they saved me from a port.

marko, that has change since the last two years. I wonder if the receptionist was incorrect. I never called the oncologist, which seems like the long way around. I hope your medical office is cooperative. Thank you for the update.

@marko49 That was also my experience last year. Veracyte would only release the GRID report to the ordering physician, not directly to me. Once the doctor requested it, I had the report in hand less than 24 hours later.
