@bobby12, welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect.
You're right that peripheral neuropathy is a condition that falls under the Neurology Deparatment at Mayo Clinic. It sounds like Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona currently has more requests for appointments than available openings.

There are many conditions and causes that can lead to balance problems, including axonal polyneuropathy. Are you currently in the care of a neurologist? Do you also deal with other issues that contribute to loss of balance like dizziness, light headedness, or spinning?

I was under the care of Dr Rosenfeld a neurologist at Loma Linda Medical Center in CA. He has now told me after extensive testing that the type of polyneuropathy I have has no treatment and it is unknown what has caused it. I am numb from my knees down. I can only at this point try to find a program that will help with my balance problems. I thought I found it with the balance team at Mayo in Scottsdale. I did all of the paperwork to make an appointment with the team, but the scheduler I talked to said the neurology dept. that handles that team is not taking any appointments at all and that Mayo does not have a waiting list.

I only have balance problems along with the no feeling from knees down. I have already been
thru all the tests for the neuropathy at Loma Linda University Medical Center and they have
no treatment department for balance issues. They suggested the Mayo balance team, but can't
get in without going thru the Mayo neurology department.

Thanks for your interest.
