Anyone taking Mirabegron 50mg ?

@joe6558 welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. What is Mirabegron? I can’t say that I’ve heard of it. What is it for?

@cehunt57 yes, inexpensive but not as effective as Gemtesa which is very expensive but had a slight edge for me with bladder spasm.

I have tried several meds for OAB and found Mirabegron helpful at 50 mg.
It is expensive without part D medication coverage. I have not tried Gemtesa which is the next generation of the class.

@seniormed I have been taking it with a small measure of effectiveness. I am doing so in combination with pelvic floor physical therapy.

I am taking Gemtesa for radiation cystitis and it honestly has been a miracle drug for me and no I don't work for the company that makes it! My urologist said it's preferred over Mybertiq because it doesn't cross the blood brain barrier and is more selective for bladder cells while ignoring cardiac cells that can be affected by the older drug.

Before Gemtesa, I would urinate 20+ times per day and there would no warning. I'd be sitting around and then suddenly my bladder would scream GO NOW! With Gemtesa I'm down to about 10 times per day, can sleep through the night only occasionally getting up once to urinate, and, most importantly, instead of GO NOW my body says "you probably should pee sometime in the next half hour to 45 minutes."

Fortunately, it's a Tier 3 drug in my health plan so it's $40 for 90 days.
