Midway Through SBRT Treatment - Doctor Info On Recurrence

I’m two sessions into SBRT at MD Anderson. Two 3+4 spots with 10% pattern and low intermediate Decipher …..Dr did not recommend ADT.

I met with my Doctor at MDA this morning. He’s very experienced and a senior person on the RO team. I asked him what the chances of recurrence are given my profile. His response “ we typically reference 5% ……but I would tell you from my experience it is lower”

I have learned treatment for this disease is extremely personal …. each decision has different ramifications. I post this for those that have a similar profile to mine who are considering SBRT. There is always risk of recurrence but with today’s RO treatment options (particularly at COE) the outcomes are extremely positive.

SBRT Works well for a low level case like you have. You could get a decipher test to see what your chance of reoccurrence is. I will tell you a lot more than the doctor can tell you based on Patient histories.

My journey is almost exactly as yours. I read your post accurately and see you did have a Decipher test and came back low risk. Same as mine. Than information you already have and it help guide not just your doctors but you as an individual

I also did have a recommendation for hormone treatments based on my Decipher test like you did and the 3+4=7 Gleason score.

Where my treatments differ is I had 30 rounds of proton radiation. You are going to an outstanding medical institution. My advice is to see you are in good hands and talk to them about your questions.

I agree all of us are different and what one person did does not mean another should do it. Like you said it is an individualized decision making with working with your medical professionals.

You are at a great medical institution who are medical experts in diagnosing and treating prostate cancer.

I had my treatments in July 2023. My last PSA test came back undetectable. The statistics which I hate to state are extremely positive for success with the type PC you had, the Decipher test, so be positive.

I had 2 of 12 cores positive for 3+4, 20% involvement and 30%, have appointment with oncologist on 8/20, would consider seed implantation but want to avoid adt my psa was 5 asked urologist for a decipher test but haven't heard back.
