I first noticed daily heart palpitations a couple weeks before my husband died of Lewy Body dementia in a nursing home. After a month or so I saw a doctor who had me wear a Zio patch and I was diagnosed with PSVT. I am tempted to ask for a catheter ablation even though I understand this is not s life threatening condition because the emotional effects of the pounding heart are so hard for me to manage. I am taking a calcium channel blocker and the Vagal maneuvers are helpful.

@cindyburke Stress alone can bring on palpitations. Dealing with the physical and emotional challenges of watching your spouse decline over many years and die creates constant stress. I experienced the same and my husband’s death coincided with my arrhythmia, 3 Covid shots, 2 bouts of Covid, and death of my spouse all in 2021. I’ll never know what caused my NSVT. My seemingly very cautious EP recommended an implanted defibrillator for safety, despite the fact that I have never fainted and my maximum heart rate was 144. He made it clear that he thought I was at risk for SCD- sudden cardiac death.
He is no rookie. Extremely well-regarded and well known worldwide for his experience and expertise. Since implantation, I have learned from this website that many EP’s wait much longer and tolerate much higher levels of arrhythmias before recommending an ICD.- implanted cardiac device. I am glad to have mine. Easy out-patient procedure, no pain, no limitations. 99% protected.
I take only Verapamil twice daily, long acting, to lower my heart rate. So far, so good. I have adequate energy and am not limited in any way. Age 78. Good luck to you!
