Hello @kmacky,
You made my day! Thank you for saying you like my post.
I don't know about you, but I am SO grateful that I quit smoking. And just like you...sometimes I can't believe I did either.
It's hard. But smoking is harder, especially when, like I learned in the Allan Carr book, how addiction works in the brain.
I'm so happy to hear that you and your husband both quit.
Doesn't it feel so good to smell better?
Have more money?
Realize how much time you now have?
I can't believe how much time I wasted standing outside a restaurant, smoking in a dark alley in the rain, while my friends were inside eating.
I can't believe how much time I wasted dropping whatever I was doing to go outside in any kind a weather to have a smoke.
I can't believe I missed the winning touchdown in overtime during a Super Bowl because I was outside smoking.
I can't believe I drove to a scary AM/PM convenience store at 11:45 at night to get a pack of cigarettes!
I can't believe how much power those dirty little sticks of paper and tobacco had over me.
I pray your sister will listen. We know she "can" listen, but will she listen and hear, is the question.
If, like me and so many others, I loved smoking.
I looked forward to each one. I didn't want to quit.
I truly was afraid I would never enjoy life again without them. How twisted is that?
What a lie! That's what cigarettes do. They lie and tell you those things.
I'll never forget about a month into not smoking, I was out on my daily 5 mile walk and thought "Hmm...I feel SO GOOD!" I felt almost euphoric.
Tell her your story.
Share with her my story.
Tell her, yes, you know it's hard to quit, but it's hard to smoke. Choose your hard.
I look back at the eight years since I quit and am so very grateful I don't smoke.
It is life changing.
Thank you again for making my day. I have smile on my face thanks to you!
The Allen Carr Easy Way to Quit Smoking book helped me so much, is your sister a reader?
