Supplements and Home Therapy

I’ve suffered with my idiopathic peripheral neuropathy for only two years now, but the progression seems quite rapid and discerning. Started with numbness in bottom of feet along with some burning. Now numb ankles, calves and heavy legs. Praying for no pain. I’ve seen 3 neurologists, had two nerve conduction studies, multiple labs, acupuncture with supplements and red light therapy. Went to an another wellness center ran by a chiropractor. He’s got a $6,000 plan for me which includes supplements (Vasopro Plus) LLLT, Rebuilder. What’s upsets me is that he seemed so positive. I’M NO FOOL! Reading so many posts I’m concluding a healthy lifestyle of eating right, exercise and of course attitude is the answer. Thought it’s mighty hard to keep a positive attitude at times. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Welcome @val11212, Thanks for sharing your experience which sounds pretty familiar to a lot of us. I also have idiopathic small fiber PN but fortunately no pain, just numbness and some tingling which has been with me for 40+ years. I do take some supplements but they are pretty standard ones that are research backed. I shared my neuropathy journey in another discussion here - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/310341/.

I too have found the best thing that helps is a healthy lifestyle, exercise and love that you have included one of my favorite things that I try to stay focused on - a positive attitude. I'm guessing you have already seen the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy website - https://www.foundationforpn.org/lifestyles/.

What really got me started on the attitude side of health was a video by a Mayo Clinic Dr. Amit Sood. Loved his "A Very Happy Brain" video" -- https://youtu.be/GZZ0zpUQhBQ. He also gave a great TED Talk that you might find interesting -- Happy Brain: How to Overcome Our Neural Predispositions to Suffering: https://youtu.be/KZIGekgoaz4
