@jlovern Welcome to Connect! You are newly diagnosed with HCM and having increases palpitations. On top of that you have been getting dizzy. This, indeed, is concerning - and very frightening! Please take a deep breath. We are all in different stages and in different situations, yet we are living with this awful disease and leading out best lives. We are here to encourage you to learn all about your disease and we want to share our experiences.
Has the doctor scheduled diagnostic tests? I had an echocardiogram, EKG, stress test and nuclear stress test. Many have also been given MRIs. Has there been heart related care in other blood relatives? Are you getting care at a COE (Center of Excellence) for HCM? We have no COE near where I live, but I was so, so fortunate to, on referral from our family doctor (now known as primary care physicians) be assigned a cardiologist who was trained at a place that now is a COE. How long have you been experiencing symptoms?
We encourage people to read about their HCM to extend their knowledge and to help generate questions to ask the doctors. "Knowledge is Power" Here are some links you may wish to read: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hypertrophic-cardiomyopathy/symptoms-causes/syc-20350198 and https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/heart-palpitations/symptoms-causes/syc-20373196 and https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mayo-clinic-minute-know-the-warning-signs-of-hypertrophic-cardiomyopathy/
Of course, the many, many contributions to the HCM discussions can be quite helpful. When will you see your cardiologist? Do keep us posted as you move along in your journey!
