Many members have given their experience. You probably already realize it's going to be individualized, depending on the classes your clinic requires before surgery, tests, how soon they can be scheduled, and any pre-existing conditions that might need to be resolved before surgery.

Many clinics may require an alcohol use evaluation. After surgery, you are more likely to develop alcohol problems due to changes in the way your revised GI system handles alcohol. They may require no alcohol use for a while prior to surgery, so if you drink, best to stop now.
